My Story
Since I was a child I have been passionate about sports and cycling, since the age of eight I have been riding the bike to never leave it. My career as a professional cyclist lasted from 2011 to 2019, the year in which a succession of injuries caused me to choose to end my journey.
Who I Am
My name is Aleksandr Porsev, I was born in Russia on February 21, 1986 and grew up in a small town in contact with nature and simplicity in a family with solid values. Since I was a child I had a passion for cycling, a sport very little known in Russia, and I grew up with the determination to become a professional champion. The first important objective was to be able to conquer a bicycle of my own, so at the age of eight, thanks to the constant commitment and self-confidence, I participated in competitions in which at stake they gave the necessary to be a cyclist at all the effects. So in a short time he managed to grab a uniform and a bicycle to train me every day. Even today I remember how much effort and will I went through that race against all the older boys, in order to receive a “simple” but important shirt for me to own. Given my great determination, I started training with the team created by the school I attended. I began to participate in the competitions and slowly my physique grew and became stronger and stronger with the characteristics of a real champion. The efforts I experienced in those years were decisive for a strong and decisive character. Many times during the races, there was no need to refresh me and feed me properly, the clothes and accessories were not adequate, not to mention the bicycle …
The temperatures and conditions of the roads were not suitable for outdoor sports competitions but I still had the strength to hold on until one day he managed to join the Continental team and finally savor a pinch of true cycling. I started to travel and discover the world, the colors, the flavors and the emotions that I didn’t think existed before. From here I had even more the conviction that this was my way and that, although I was different from all the others, I had to travel it and leave the much loved village, where family and friends were always close to me. From 2007 to 2010 I was followed and directed by a very serious Russian trainer, who even though the runners were sick, weakened and with fever he made them train and compete anyway. The only purpose was to run the races and have a good position, otherwise this coach immediately bought the air ticket by having the runner go home. Many times, my companions and I have faced long and difficult periods. We were transferred to altitude in isolated places, without ever seeing anyone outside the team for months. Our workouts were so long and hard that the only thing we could do in the evening was to sleep, very tired and upset in our beds. In 2009 I was part of the Katusha Continental Team where I had five victories, before moving on to Itera Katusha in 2010 where I also won five important victories this year. All this led me to say goodbye to the old trainer and finally to join the professional cyclists, thus joining the Katusha Team in 2011. Here began a new stage to go with even bigger new goals to achieve. One of the many was to be Russian champion and both in 2014 and 2017 he managed to fully conquer that title. In the meantime, I participated in the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia, Milan-Sanremo, Giro delle Fiandre, my beloved Paris-Roubaix and many classics in my heart. My only goal has always been to win numerous sprint races. Despite the bad weather and obstacles I managed to become the cyclist I dreamed of as a child. Now, thanks to my experience, I want to convey to cycling and sports enthusiasts like me, my knowledge and my knowledge to be able to accompany them on a path of growth and success.
